Jordan was power and strength while Bryant was more finesse and speed, according to Jackson, who coached both NBA legends in their prime, Jordan with the Chicago Bulls and Bryant with the Los Angeles Lakers.

Thirty years after winning their last NBA title, the Philadelphia 76ers are turning to former Houston Rockets executive Sam Hinkie to revive championship hopes. The 76ers announced on Tuesday that Hinkie had been hired as the team's new president of basketball operations and general manager. He spent the past three years as executive vice president of basketball operations for the Rockets.

The NBA made it official Sunday, announcing Miami Heat superstar LeBron James had earned Most Valuable Player honors for the second straight year and the fourth time in his career. James's victory in the voting had been widely reported since Friday, although when asked about it the player himself had urged reporters not to "jinx" him by jumping the gun. James joins legends Michael Jordan, Wilt Chamberlain, Kareem Abdul-Jabbar and Bill Russell as MVP award winners at least four times in their careers.
