Tennis: Serbia to face Czech Republic in Davis Cup final

Serbia will face defending champions the Czech Republic in the Davis Cup final after defeating Canada 3-2 in the semi-finals on Sunday. Janko Tipsarevic led Serbia into their second final in four years after defeating Vasek Pospisil 7-6 (7/3), 6-2, 7-6 (8/6). Earlier, world number one Novak Djokovic had beaten Milos Raonic 7-6 (7/1), 6-2, 6-2 to level the tie at 2-2. Serbia, the 2010 champions, will host the November 15-17 final against the Czechs who defeated Argentina 3-2 in their semi-final in Prague.

Canada ended the first day of their Davis Cup semi-final with Serbia level on 1-1 as Janko Tipsarevic failed to follow up Novak Djokovic's opening win. Ferrer through to last 16 after beating Kukushkin

Murray, Djokovic on Cincinnati collision course

Djokovic was all business on an unusually chilly afternoon on the outskirts of Cincinnati easing past Argentine Juan Monaco 7-5 6-2 while Murray got his North American hardcourt campaign back on track with a 6-2 6-3 dissection of Mikhail Youzhny.

Serb Janko Tipsarevic continued a luckless 2013 run as the third seed was knocked out in his opening match at the Swiss Open 6-2, 6-2 by Dutchman Robin Haase on Thursday. The stage was set for the return of Roger Federer to the court at the high-altitude Alpine village, with the tennis icon having last played Gstaad in 2004 when he won the title. A decade and a half ago, a pony-tailed, teenaged Federer made his start on the ATP Tour with a wild card into the event, losing in the first round to Argentine Lucas Arnold.

MONTE CARLO (Reuters) - Eighth seed Janko Tipsarevic of Serbia suffered another early exit when he was beaten 7-6 6-1 by Bulgarian Grigor Dimitrov in the Monte Carlo tennis second round on Tuesday. World number 10 Tipsarevic, who has never made it past the third round at the claycourt Masters series event, extended his poor win-loss record to 2-6 since he reached the Australian Open last 16 in January.

Haas knocks off world No. 1 Djokovic at Sony Open

International Sports Desk, Mar 27 (EFE).- Germany's Tommy Haas upset Serbian world No. 1 Novak Djokovic 6-2, 6-4 in the fourth round of the Sony Open in Miami. "I'm just really happy and proud of that tonight, against such a great player who has been dominating the sport the past couple of years, I really took advantage of the opportunities I've gotten," Haas said after Tuesday night's match.
