Mobile advertisements boost Facebook's 1st-quarter earnings as revenue grows 38 per cent

NEW YORK, N.Y. - A year ago, Facebook was just testing the waters of mobile advertising, causing plenty of headaches for investors ahead of its massive initial public offering. It has since eased those worries. On Wednesday the world's biggest social networking company said nearly a third of its advertising revenue came from mobile in the first three months of the year, helping to push total revenue up 38 per cent to surpass Wall Street's expectations.

NEW YORK, N.Y. - Facebook says that an independent audit found its privacy practices sufficient during a six-month assessment period that followed a settlement with federal regulators. Facebook Inc. said it submitted the findings to the Federal Trade Commission on Monday evening. The audit was a required part of the social networking company's settlement with the FTC last summer. The settlement resolved charges that Facebook exposed details about its users' lives without getting the required legal consent.

Facebook to build data centre near Des Moines, Iowa

This facility in Altoona, Iowa, will be the social networking company's fourth since 2010, when Facebook began construction on its first data centre in Prineville, Oregon.

GM says to run ads on Facebook once again

SAN FRANCISCO (Reuters) - General Motors Co is running ads for a Chevrolet car on mobile versions of Facebook, the automaker's first ads on the social network since publicly announcing its decision to stop advertising on Facebook nearly a year ago. "Chevrolet is testing a number of mobile advertising solutions, including Facebook, as part of its 'Find New Roads' campaign," the company said in an emailed statement on Tuesday.
