Rallying: Ogier powers into Portugal lead

World champion Sebastien Ogier picked up five of Saturday's six special stages to power past Mikko Hirvonen and into the Rally of Portugal lead. The Frenchman had been lying a close third overnight but after the third day's action in the Algarve he and his Volkswagen Polo topped the times by 38sec from Hirvonen. The Finn's Ford Fiesta is more than 50sec clear of third-placed Mads Ostberg in a Citroen DS3, with Dani Sordo, who claimed Saturday's tenth special, in fourth. syd/nr/lp

Rallying: Ogier wins Rally of Mexico

World champion Sebastien Ogier won the Rally of Mexico on Sunday, the third round of this year's title series. The Volkswagen Polo driver, who also won in Mexico in 2013, finished over a minute ahead of teammate Jari-Matti Latvala of Finland. Belgian driver Thierry Neuville, in a Hyundai, was third, over five minutes off the pace. It was Hyundai's first podium place.

Rallying: Ogier in command in Rally of Mexico

World champion Sebastien Ogier built up a commanding lead in the Rally of Mexico on Saturday, winning five of the day's special stages and finishing second in the remaining two. Ogier took his Volkswagen into the day with a slender 26-second advantage over Nowegian Mads Ostberg, but Ostberg's involvement came to an abrupt end when he suffered a broken suspension in his Citroen. By the end of the day, Ogier was a minute ahead of team-mate and world championship leader Jari-Matti Latvala of Finland.
