Rallying: Loeb clinches eighth Argentina triumph

Nine-time world champion Sebastien Loeb won the Rally of Argentina for the eighth time on Saturday, cruising to victory in his Citroen. Fellow French driver Sebastian Ogier, whose challenge fizzled out on Friday when he suffered a puncture on his Volkswagen, was second. Ogier's VW teammate Jari-Matti Latvala of Finland was third after capturing the 14th and final stage. "There is a lot of emotion because it was such a difficult race," said Loeb who has won every edition of this event since 2005.

Rallying: Loeb takes slender lead in Sweden

Nine-time world champion Sebastien Loeb drove his Citroen to a slender lead on the opening stage of the Rally of Sweden Thursday as the Frenchman attempts to break Ford's domination of the event. Loeb, who intentionally included the Rally of Sweden in his scaled down schedule of four races this season, carries a 0.5sec lead into Friday, ahead of Russian Evgeny Novikov with Finland's Jari-Matti Latvala, who won in 2012, on the same time.

(Updates timings, adds quotes) Jan 16 (Reuters) - The world rally championship swept in a new era in Monte Carlo on Wednesday with erratic timing and tracking systems causing confusion but Citroen's Sebastien Loeb leading the way as usual over the snowy mountain roads. Although the Frenchman is not challenging for an astonishing 10th title in a row, he has made clear that he still wants to win the four rounds of the 13-event championship that he is contesting.
