Chinese shares were down in morning trade Monday after data released over the weekend showed manufacturing activity slowed to an eight-month low, dealers said.
The benchmark Shanghai Composite Index slid 0.37 percent, or 7.54 points, to 2,048.76.
The Shenzhen Composite Index, which tracks stocks on China's second exchange, slipped 0.15 percent, or 1.69 points, to 1,089.18.
China's official purchasing managers' index fell to 50.2 in February, the government said on Saturday, from 50.5 in January.
