NFL: Gonzalez puts off retirement to stay with Falcons

Atlanta Falcons tight end Tony Gonzalez has changed his mind about retirement, saying Tuesday he will rejoin the NFL club after falling one game short of reaching last month's Super Bowl. Gonzalez, second on the all-time NFL receptions list to Jerry Rice with 1,242 catches, confirmed in a Twitter message that he will return next season to the Falcons, who lost to San Francisco in January's conference finals.

Gonzalez, a future Hall of Famer who has set many records at the tight end position during his 16-year NFL career, got his first career playoff win last week but the top-seeded Falcons were unable to give him one more.
