British ballet dancer David Wall dies of cancer aged 67

LONDON (Reuters) - British ballet dancer David Wall, known for becoming the youngest male principal at the Royal Ballet at the age of 21, has died of cancer aged 67 at his home in London. Director of the Royal Ballet, Kevin O'Hare, paid tribute to Wall who died on Tuesday, describing him as a "truly exceptional artist" and one of the company's greatest dance actors.

Bolshoi boots out star in bitter row after acid attack

The Bolshoi theatre has announced it is terminating the contract of one of its biggest stars, Nikolai Tsiskaridze, who infuriated the management with lacerating public criticisms after a horrific acid attack on the troupe's artistic director. Moscow court orders Bolshoi dancer to stay in jail

A Moscow court on Tuesday ordered the Bolshoi ballet dancer suspected of ordering an acid attack on its artistic director Sergei Filin to stay in detention until at least June 18, rejecting a petition for him to be freed. The judge extended the arrest of leading Bolshoi dancer Pavel Dmitrichenko for the investigation to finish, ruling that he was suspected of a serious crime and constituted a flight risk.

One of America's finest ballerinas and the muse and wife of legendary choreographer George Balanchine has died, aged 88. Maria Tallchief died Thursday in Chicago, where she had founded the short-lived Chicago City Ballet, the family announced. She had previously been the dazzling prima ballerina with the New York City Ballet from 1948 to 1965, working with Balanchine, who was also briefly her husband. "My mother was a ballet legend, who was proud of her Osage heritage," said daughter Elise Paschen in a statement, referring to Tallchief's Native American background.
