Relegation woes worry toothless Argentinos Juniors

BUENOS AIRES (Reuters) - Argentinos Juniors, staring into the jaws of relegation, have had a set of false teeth thrown at their coach by an angry fan while the club's president has quit his seat at the Argentine FA. An irate fan threw a set of dentures at coach Ricardo Caruso Lombardi during Monday's 3-1 home defeat by Belgrano that left Argentinos bottom of the "Final" championship standings.

Messi to debut tattoo with son's name

Buenos Aires, Mar 20 (EFE).- Barcelona soccer star Lionel Messi this week in the elimination match between Argentina and Venezuela for the 2014 World Cup will debut a tattoo on his left leg with the name and the hands of his son Thiago. Messi already has a tattoo of his mother's face on his left shoulder blade. Sources close to the Argentine team said that Messi had the new tattoo, which will be visible if he does not pull up his uniform socks to just below his knees, inked on Tuesday during some free time granted to the team by coach Alejandro Sabella.

Soccer-Banega back for Argentina's World Cup qualifiers

March 7 (Reuters) - Valencia midfielder Ever Banega was included in Argentina's squad for this month's World Cup qualifiers on Thursday in the absence of the injured Fernando Gago. Banega made his international comeback in last month's 3-2 friendly win over Sweden having been out of the reckoning in the qualifiers since October 2011 due to injury. Gago was injured playing for Argentine champions Velez Sarsfield and will miss the home qualifier against Venezuela in Buenos Aires on March 22 and the visit to Bolivia four days later.
