RugbyU: Leinster add to Stade agony with Challenge Cup win

Leinster shrugged off the absence of star centre Brian O'Driscoll to beat Stade Francais 34-13 on Friday to clinch the European Challenge Cup. It was the Irish side's fourth continental title to add to their 2009, 2011 and 2012 European Cup triumphs. For Stade, it was another story of final heartbreak having lost the 2011 Challenge Cup title match as well as suffering the agony of European Cup final losses in 2001 and 2005. Leinster, who scored four tries, also became just the fourth team to complete the European Cup-Challenge Cup double.

RugbyU: O'Driscoll injury fear clouds Leinster Euro dream

Leinster believe star centre Brian O'Driscoll will be fit for Friday's European Challenge Cup final against Stade Francais as the Irish giants seek a fourth continental title since 2009. The Ireland legend, set for a fourth Lions tour this summer, had to have an epidural earlier this week to ease the pain from a back spasm he suffered in last weekend's narrow victory over Glasgow in the Celtic League semi-finals.

RugbyU: Play-off picture set to be cleared up

Both may have already secured a Top 14 play-off berth but home advantage will be at stake when Racing-Metro host Castres at the Stade Colombes on Saturday. Parisians Racing currently sit fifth in the Top 14 table, one place below Castres, knowing they must leapfrog their weekend visitors in order to gain the benefit of playing at home when the play-offs begin a week later.

RugbyU: Leinster thrash holders Biarritz to reach final

Three-time European Cup winners Leinster booked their place in the final of the European Challenge on Saturday with a 44-16 thumping of holders Biarritz. Leinster, who this season became the first holders of the European Cup to go out at the group stage, will play Stade Francais in the final back in Dublin on May 17. It could well provide the perfect backdrop for legendary centre Brian O'Driscoll to announce his much-anticipated retirement, although he is almost certain to tour with the British and Irish Lions in June.

Precise Porical kicks Stade Francais into Amlin Cup final

PARIS (Reuters) - A late Jerome Porical penalty gave Stade Francais a 25-22 win at Perpignan on Friday and a place in the final of the Amlin Challenge Cup. Porical, who kicked 20 points in all, watched with delight when his 78th-minute penalty fell the right side of the posts after twice hitting the woodwork. The Perpignan-born fullback had pulled his side level four minutes earlier by kicking a long-range penalty from 60 metres.

RugbyU: Porical sends Stade Francais into Challenge Cup final

Stade Francais kept alive their hopes of playing in next year's European Cup as full-back Jerome Porical kicked the winning penalty in their 25-22 Challenge Cup semi-final victory at Perpignan on Friday. Porical struck three minutes from time with a penalty that hit both post and bar before sneaking over. With six penalties, a conversion and the decisive pass in South African lock Gerhard Mostert's try at the beginning of the second period, Porical was the man-of-the-match with a personal haul of 20 points.
