NHL: Sharks fined $100,000 for exec's comments on Torres

The National Hockey League fined the San Jose Sharks $100,000 on Saturday for general manager Doug Wilson's comments on the suspension of Sharks forward Raffi Torres. The fine was issued for violation of league rules which prohibit statements to the media during the 48-hour period following a disciplinary decision. In addition to an automatic penalty of $25,000, the Sharks were fined an additional $75,000 due to the "inappropriate nature" of Wilson's remarks, the league said.

NHL: Senators, Blackhawks advance in playoffs

Feb 20 (Reuters) - Vancouver Canucks forward Jannik Hansen was suspended for one game without pay by the NHL on Wednesday for an aggressive hit on Chicago's Marian Hossa the previous day. Hansen delivered a forearm to the back of Hossa's head during the third period of Chicago's 4-3 shootout victory that left the Blackhawks winger flat out on the ice before he returned to the locker room for the remainder of the game. Hansen was assessed a minor penalty for roughing.

NHL: Denmark's Hansen slapped with one-game ban

Denmark's Jannik Hansen was slapped with a one-game ban Wednesday after he delivered an illegal check to the head of Chicago Blackhawks forward Marian Hossa. Vancouver Canucks forward Hansen was suspended by the National Hockey League's disciplinary committee for a forearm smash to the back of Hossa's head in the third period of Chicago's 4-3 win. Hansen, who was also fined $7,300, was given a two-minute penalty on the play.
