Remains of last Yugoslav queen to return to Serbia

Greece will return to Serbia the remains of Yugoslavia's last queen, Alexandra, nearly two decades after her death, the Greek foreign ministry said on Wednesday. "At the request of the former royal family of Serbia, the Greek government has consented, in agreement with the Government of Serbia, to the exhumation of the remains of the late Queen Alexandra," the foreign ministry said. It added: "The Foreign Ministry will arrange for transport of the remains to Belgrade, where they will be interred in the family vault."

Remains of last Yugoslav king returned to Serbia

BELGRADE, Jan 22 (Reuters) - The remains of the last king of Yugoslavia were repatriated to Serbia on Tuesday, four decades after he died in exile after fleeing to the West during World War Two. Petar II Karadjordjevic, whose body was exhumed from a Serbian Orthodox cemetery in Libertyville, Illinois will be re-interred at a state funeral in May, along with other members of the royal family whose remains are also being repatriated.
