3 Dead in blast at military base in Spain

Almeria, Spain, May 20 (EFE).- Three people died and two others were injured Monday in an explosion at the Alvarez Sotomayor de Viator military base in the southern Spanish province of Almeria, authorities said. The fatalities were identified as two warrant officers and a sergeant. All three were experts in disarming bombs and had served on international missions in Bosnia, Lebanon and Afghanistan, among other locations, the military said. They died in an explosion that originated near a mortar mounted on a BMR armored personnel carrier.

Egyptian PM says to reshuffle cabinet today or tomorrow

CAIRO (Reuters) - Egyptian Prime Minister Hisham Kandil said a reshuffle of the cabinet would include 11 ministers and be announced later on Monday or on Tuesday. President Mohamed Mursi announced on April 20 that he would reshuffle a cabinet widely criticized by economists for failing to revive an economy hit by more than two years of political turmoil. Egypt's Justice Minister Ahmed Mekki resigned on Sunday, ahead of a cabinet reshuffle in which he was expected to be replaced, the cabinet said. "Justice Minister Ahmed Mekki resigned this morning and will remain in his post until a new minister is appointed as part of the reshuffle," cabinet spokesman Alaa al-Hadidi said. President Mohamed Morsi had said on Saturday he would order the reshuffle "soon," after months of pressure by opposition groups which demand an overhaul of the government before dropping a boycott of parliamentary elections.

Los Angeles, Apr 20 (EFE).- After two days of speculation, Texas authorities confirmed that the number of people who died in the explosion of a fertilizer plant in the town of West stands at 14 as the work of searching the ruins comes to an end. On Friday afternoon, the spokesman of that state's Department of Public Safety, Sgt. Jason Reyes, gave the official report on the dead whose bodies were taken to Dallas, 120 kilometers (75 miles) to the north, for forensic analyses.

KMC Administrator addresses meeting of DCs, MCs

KMC Administrator Syed Hashim Raza Zaidi has said that KMC and five DMCs should complete the budget of next year by May 15. He said this while addressing a meeting of Deputy Commissioners, Municipal Commissioners and senior officers, said a statement issued on Friday evening.
