Tennis: Aussie Hewitt advances at Atlanta tennis

Former world No. 1 Lleyton Hewitt blasted 10 aces en route to a 7-6 (8/6), 6-4 in over Rhyne Williams in the second round of the Atlanta Open. The 32-year-old from Adelaide won 78 percent of his first-serve points and had his serve broken just once in the one hour, 47 minute hardcourt match. Hewitt advances to the quarter-finals where he will face Ivan Dodig of Croatia who beat Ricardas Berankis in three sets, 6-1, 6-7 (3/7), 6-3.

Tennis: Australia's Ebden wins first Challenger title

Australia's Matthew Ebden won his first ATP Challenger title with a 7-5, 4-6, 7-5 victory over defending champion Benjamin Becker in Sunday's final in Nottingham. Ebden, ranked 122nd in the world, took just over two hours to see off German world number 97 Becker and win the grass-court event, which is part of the ATP's second tier Challenger circuit. The 25-year-old had to save seven break points at 3-3 in a tense first set before landing the crucial break to move ahead in the match.
