Cricket: Johnson blow rules out McLaren

South African all-rounder Ryan McLaren has been ruled out of the second Test against Australia starting at St George's Park on Thursday after being hit on the head by fast bowler Mitchell Johnson during the first Test in Centurion on Saturday. South African team manager Dr Mohammed Moosajee said McLaren was suffering from mild concussion. McLaren received treatment on the field after a short ball from Johnson crashed into his batting helmet. He resumed batting before being dismissed by Johnson soon afterwards.

Formula One: Perez announces departure from McLaren

Mexican Formula One driver Sergio Perez announced on Wednesday he is to leave the McLaren team after an unsuccessful season in which his best result was fifth in the Indian Grand Prix. The 23-year-old, who is likely to be replaced by McLaren's Danish test driver Kevin Magnussen, has garnered just 35 points in his maiden season with them while team-mate Jenson Button has accrued 60 in what has been a hugely disappointing campaign for the stable.

Britain's McLaren opened its first car dealership in mainland China on Thursday, hoping to sell the country's wealthy elite its Formula One-inspired vehicles for up to $2.1 million apiece. China has become crucial to luxury car makers, as a growing number of super-rich with an urge to flaunt their fortunes pay enormous sums for a single vehicle. The Shanghai showroom is in the centre of China's commercial hub, not far from other luxury car dealerships including Britain's Rolls Royce and Italy's Lamborghini.

Vodafone to pull plug on F1 sponsorship-report

(Reuters) - British mobile operator Vodafone is set to end its long-running sponsorship of the Formula One team McLaren following a review of marketing strategy, The Financial Times reported on Thursday, citing a Vodafone spokesman who confirmed the decision. The Financial Times reported that Vodafone has paid as much as $75 million (50 million pounds) every year as part of its deal with McLaren, which it struck in 2007.
