Cricket: Haq nets record and a duck in Scotland warm-up

Pakistan cruised to a 96-run victory over Scotland in Friday's limited overs international in Edinburgh despite the record-breaking efforts of Majid Haq. Scotland spinner Haq went into the clash at the Grange level with John Blain on 41 one-day international wickets and he shattered that record as he dismissed three Pakistan batsmen to move himself clear on 43. However his efforts were in vain as Pakistan, who won the toss and chose to bat, made 231 for seven and then bowled out Scotland for just 135.

Islamabad Greeners win in Super League

Islamabad Greeners defeated National Cricket Club by three wickets in the opening game of the NBP-ICA Super League which started here at Bhutto Cricket Ground on Wednesday. Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB) governing body member Shakil Shaikh, who is also Islamabad Cricket Association (ICA) president, along with chairman tournament committee Syed Abrar Rizvi inaugurated the championship. Members of the ICA executive and tournament committee Nasir Iqbal, Abdul Rauf Mirza, Ajmal Khan Sabir, Hassan Asghar, and Shabbir Ahmed were also present on the occasion.

Raza confident of swift return

Raza Hasan, Pakistan’s 20-year old left-arm spinner, is confident of being back in the reckoning for national selection with his swift recovery from a career-threatening spine injury. He returned to competitive cricket, after an almost four-month break, in the ongoing Super Eight T20 Cup.Hasan, who made his international debut last September against Australia, has played seven Twenty20 internationals since, taking six wickets at 25.66.

Sialkot in Super Eight T20 semis

Sialkot Stallions thrashed Multan Tigers in the Faysal Bank Super Eight Twenty20 Cup to set the semi-final clash against Rawalpindi Rams who defeated Faisalabad Wolves in a thriller. Stallions-Tigers match was reduced to 14 overs due to wet conditions.Stallions, after winning the toss, opted to bowl first. Raza Hasan was the main wrecker of Tigers innings as he ripped through their top order leaving them reeling at 14 runs for five wickets which also included two run-outs.

Wolves, Stallions take thrilling route to final

Shoaib Malik-led Sialkot Stallions set the Faysal Bank Super Eight Twenty20 Cup final clash with Faisalabad Wolves to be played today (Sunday) here at the jam-packed Gaddafi Stadium at 7pm.In the first semi-final, Ehsan Adil held his nerves in the last over to snatch the game from the jaws of Lahore Lions and took Faisalabad Wolves to the Faysal Bank Super Eight Twenty20 Cup final. Wolves won the toss and decided to bat first. Though Wolves were off to flying start and scored 22 runs in 2.4 overs yet Lions’ bowlers bowled well to restrict them to 125-8 in 20 overs.

Ajmal may need surgery for suspected hernia

LAHORE (Reuters) - Off-spinner Saeed Ajmal, Pakistan's leading wicket-taker in all three forms of the game for the past two years, could require surgery for a suspected hernia after suffering stomach pains for the past two months. "I have been examined by doctors and they feel I could require a surgery for a suspected hernia," he told Reuters on Thursday. Ajmal, 35, said he could have the operation before Pakistan's one-day series against Scotland and Ireland in late May.

Cricket: Misbah stars as Pakistan square series

Pakistan captain Misbah-ul-Haq led his side to a three-wicket win over South Africa in the fourth one-dayer Thursday, setting up a series decider in the final match in Benoni on Sunday. Misbah made 80 and Imran Farhat scored 93 as Pakistan chased down South Africa's total of 234 for nine with eight balls to spare. Misbah and opening batsman Farhat shared a 153-run fourth wicket partnership after Pakistan had been struggling at 33 for three after 11 overs. The early wickets included that of Mohammad Hafeez, who was given out for obstructing the field in the second over.

Cricket: South Africa win toss and bat v Pakistan

South Africa won the toss and decided to bat in the fourth one-day international at Kingsmead on Thursday. South Africa, who lead the five-match series 2-1, were without Faf du Plessis, who will miss the last two matches as well as the start of the Indian Premier League next month because of a back injury. He was replaced by David Miller, who plays for the Durban-based Dolphins franchise. Pakistan also made one change, with Imran Farhat replacing opening batsman Nasir Jamshed, in a day match starting in bright sunshine. Teams:

Cricket: Irfan leads Pakistan to six-wicket victory

Pakistan fast bowler Mohammad Irfan took four wickets in a devastating opening spell to set up a six-wicket win in the second one-day international against South Africa on Friday. Tall left-armer Irfan took a career-best four for 33 in seven overs as South Africa were bowled out for 191 in a match reduced to 44 overs a side. Pakistan achieved victory with 4.4 overs to spare, captain Misbah-ul-Haq anchoring his side's chase, making 57 not out.
