Ajmal makes double strike for Pakistan

Off-spinner Saeed Ajmal dismissed both opening batsmen as South Africa started their reply to Pakistan's first innings on the second day of the second Test at Newlands on Friday. South Africa were 65 for two at tea after dismissing Pakistan for 338. It was a productive day for Ajmal, who helped fellow tailender Tanvir Ahmed put on 64 for the ninth wicket to take Pakistan comfortably past the 300 mark. Their eventual total had seemed unlikely when Vernon Philander took three wickets in his first three overs to reduce the tourists to 268 for eight.

Cricket-Second Pakistani forced out of S.Africa tour by injury

Feb 5 (Reuters) - Pakistan lost a second injured player on their tour of South Africa when uncapped batsman Haris Sohail was sent home on Tuesday without playing a match. "Haris has developed a strain in his left ankle and requires four to five weeks to recover so he is returning home," Pakistan Cricket Board official Nadeem Sarwar told Reuters. The visitors had already lost experienced test opener Taufiq Umar because of a leg injury and his replacement, Imran Farhat has yet to join the squad in South Africa.

Cricket-Injured Taufiq ruled out of South Africa series

KARACHI, Jan 30 (Reuters) - Pakistan opener Taufiq Umar has been ruled out of the series against South Africa as he has failed to recover from a leg injury, the Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB) said on Wednesday. The 31-year-old batsman, who missed a four-day warm-up match in East London after suffering the injury during a nets session, will be replaced by Imran Farhat.

Cricket-Pakistan add pace duo to squad

KARACHI, Jan 27 (Reuters) - Pakistan have added pace bowlers Tanvir Ahmed and Rahat Ali to their side in South Africa before the first test starting on Feb. 1, the Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB) said on Sunday. A PCB spokesman said the decision followed a request from the touring team's management. "They have taken this decision after considering the conditions and duration of the tour in South Africa," the spokesman said. "Both players will arrive before the first test."
