Red Bull boss Christian Horner urged Formula One to scrap complicated fuel-flow rules that saw Daniel Ricciardo stripped of second place in Melbourne, as the Australian hit similar trouble Friday. Horner said policing the newly introduced limit on fuel flow, or rate of fuel use, "confuses even the teams" and should be axed with teams simply given a cap of 100 kilos (about 135 litres, 35 gallons) per race.

Four-time world champion Sebastian Vettel expressed relief Friday after his troubled Red Bull car survived the first day of the season intact and clocked up a high number of laps. The German ace had feared the worst heading into Sunday's Australian Grand Prix after mechanical problems in pre-season testing left Red Bull looking under-prepared for the new season. But Vettel completed 41 laps in the second session, more than any driver and fourth quickest, while his new team-mate Daniel Ricciardo put in 38 and timed sixth.

Formula One: Female driver Wolff aims for Grand Prix spot

Susie Wolff has set her sights on driving in a Grand Prix after it was announced on Monday she would become the first woman in 22 years to take part in a Formula One event of any kind. Already a development driver with British team Williams, Wolff's expanded role will see the 31-year-old Scot take part in the first practice sessions ahead of both the British and German Grands Prix in July. Not since Giovanna Amati, who failed to qualify in the 1992 Brazilian Grand Prix at Interlagos for Brabham, has a woman driven a Formula One car over the course of a race weekend.

F1 bosses taken aback by double points storm

By Alan Baldwin JEREZ, Spain (Reuters) - Formula One may have to 'revisit' a controversial rule change awarding double points for the final race of the season because of the backlash from fans, according to Mercedes motorsport head Toto Wolff. "I think obviously the shitstorm we got afterwards was something which was not expected," the Austrian told reporters at pre-season testing in southern Spain when asked about the decision.
