Morocco burns 10 tonnes of hashish

Moroccan customs authorities on Thursday incinerated 9.5 tonnes of cannabis resin in a suburb of Casablanca, official media reported, days after record hashish hauls in neighbouring Spain. The drugs, which were seized in two separate operations last year by customs authorities at Casablanca port, were burned in the presence of government officials, police and members of the royal gendarmerie, the MAP news agency reported.

The 44-year-old gardener said he would appeal his conviction, which came after police who visited his home in western France found 126 plants and 26 grammes of cannabis.

Italy police seize 20 tonnes of cannabis from ship

ROME (Reuters) - Italy seized more than 20 tonnes of cannabis on Thursday from a ship sailing off the island of Sicily. Coastguard officers escorted the boat to the Sicilian port of Marsala and discovered the hashish resin in burlap sacks, police said in a statement. Six crew members of Syrian origin were taken into custody. "This is the most important operation in the Mediterranean Sea in the past 10 years," Cristino Alemanno, of the Guardia di Finanza, said.

Russia takes Wikipedia cannabis article off blacklist

Italian police find ton of hashish in Dutch truck

Italian police on Saturday uncovered a ton of hashish worth 15 million euros ($19 million) in a frozen foods truck carrying potatoes and arrested its Dutch driver, the police said in a statement. The police said they became suspicious when they noticed the truck on the outskirts of Rome as part of an anti-drug investigation and found out that it was very far from its registered delivery point.

Seven nabbed with liquor

In a special operation, the police arrested seven accused and recovered liquor and hashish from them here the other day. Sources told that police conducted a raid in Shamsia colony and arrested Adnan, son of Bashir with three litres of liquor.In another raid, police nabbed Pervez alias Peiji near Press Club Chowk and recovered three bottles of liquor. Dutch city wants to cultivate own cannabis

The southern Dutch city of Eindhoven has come up with a proposal it believes will curb the illegal supply of cannabis to the city's so-called coffee shops: they suggest growing it themselves. Australia takes down drug ring with ties to Spain

Sydney, Mar 22 (EFE).- Australian police dismantled a drug trafficking ring with ties to Spain and other European countries, while seizing 117 kilos (258 pounds) of MDMA, which is used to make ecstasy, authorities said Friday. The confiscated drug could have produced up to 1.37 ecstasy pills with a street value of $54 million (42 million euros), according to a communique from the Australian Federal Police.
