Texas responders extend oil cleanup in Matagorda Bay after spill

(Reuters) - Responders from the Matagorda Incident Command Post in Port O'Connor, Texas, extended their cleanup efforts to mitigate the environmental effects of a fuel oil spill that occurred in the Houston Ship Channel last weekend, the Texas City "Y" Response Unified Command said in an update on Friday. Members of the public are discouraged from accessing south Matagorda Island until the command announces that response operations are complete, the agency said.

Debris cleared from New York buildings' collapse; focus on gas lines

The collapse of the five-story buildings could be felt up to one mile away.

Germany charges 10 over deadly 2010 Love Parade stampede

German prosecutors said Wednesday that 10 people have been charged with negligent manslaughter and causing bodily harm over the 2010 Love Parade stampede in which 21 people were killed. The collision damaged three oil pipelines connecting into petrochemical companies in the Yeosu industrial complex, making oil remaining in the pipelines spill into the waters, the officials said.
