Puebla, Mexico, Apr 16 (EFE).- A journalist was murdered as he left a bank in Puebla, a city in central Mexico, officials said. Alonso de la Colina Sordo, who was the host of a television show in the southern state of Guerrero until February, was gunned down on Monday. Guerrero is one of the state's most affected by drug-related violence in Mexico. The 50-year-old journalist was shot near the heart outside a bank branch in a shopping center in Puebla. The journalist "was approached in the shopping center's parking lot by a man," police chief Juan Luis Galan said.

An earthquake rattled the Pacific resort of Acapulco late Thursday and was felt as far north as Mexico City, causing buildings to sway, but there were no immediate reports of damage. The US Geological Survey said the 5.4-magnitude earthquake struck 81 kilometers (50 miles) west of Acapulco at 0158 GMT. Mexico's seismology center measured it at 5.3. The temblor, which had a depth of 24.4 kilometers (15.1 miles), was 285 kilometers (177 miles) southwest of Mexico City, the USGS said. People cleared out of several government and office buildings in the capital.

MEXICO CITY (Reuters) - Two men armed with a machine gun and a handgun opened fire in a bar on the outskirts of the Mexican tourist resort of Cancun on Thursday, killing six people and wounding five, the office of the state's attorney general said. Cancun, a major tourist destination on Mexico's Caribbean coast, has largely escaped the drug-related violence that has racked Acapulco, a faded tourist hot spot on the Pacific coast.

Mexico City, Mar 7 (EFE).- Mexican authorities on Thursday arrested a minor suspected of involvement in last month's rape of six Spanish women in the Pacific resort city of Acapulco. After this latest arrest, "each and every one of those implicated (in the crime) has been arrested," Martha Elva Garzon, attorney general of the southern state of Guerrero, said.
