RugbyU: Joy for S. Africa, New Zealand at Glasgow Sevens

South Africa claimed their third Cup victory of the 2012-13 Sevens World Series after beating New Zealand 28-21 in the final of the penultimate event in Glasgow on Sunday. It was nonetheless a day to remember for New Zealand, who had already secured an 11th World Series title by reaching the Cup semi-finals with victory over Argentina. Their success over the South Americans was enough to give them an unassailable lead in the standings.

RugbyU: South Africa beat New Zealand to win Tokyo Sevens

South Africa captured their second title of the season on Sunday when they stunned World Series leaders New Zealand 24-19 in the final to win the Tokyo Sevens. South Africa went into the break trailing 12-0, but rallied early in the second half. Branco du Preez scored nine points from three conversions and a penalty, while Cecil Afrika, Seabelo Senatla and Cornal Hendricks scored a try each.

RugbyU: Fiji play down Tokyo Sevens hopes

Fiji have tempered hopes they can cut the gap on runaway series leaders New Zealand at this weekend's Tokyo Sevens, despite last week's magical victory in Hong Kong. The free-running Pacific Islanders put on a Sevens masterclass when they came back from 19-0 down at half-time to beat Wales 26-19 at a packed Hong Kong Stadium on Sunday. But coach Alifereti Dere highlighted the difficulty of winning consecutive events on the Sevens World Series, which is increasingly competitive in the build-up to the 2016 Rio de Janeiro Olympics.

RugbyU: New Zealand stamp authority on Hong Kong Sevens

World Series leaders New Zealand came back from a try down for a convincing win against France as the Hong Kong Sevens kicked off Friday, while Argentina dominated title challengers South Africa. In the sixth and most high-profile tournament of the the nine-leg HSBC Sevens World Series, a packed Hong Kong Stadium watched Paul Albaladejo break away for a try to put the French on the scoreboard first. But New Zealand's Ben Lam found a gap soon after to score and though the French managed to get across the line once more, New Zealand romped home with a 33-12 victory.
