RugbyU: Australia impress with win over South Africa

Australia upset world sevens number ones South Africa in Hong Kong Saturday, as Fiji's march towards a hat-trick of titles appeared unstoppable and players battled through a sub-tropical rainstorm. The clearly partisan 40,000 spectators at Hong Kong stadium roared the Aussies on to a heart-stopping 10-7 defeat of the mighty "Blitzbokke". The victory saw Australia top Pool B with three wins and go through to Sunday's Cup quarter-finals.

RugbyU: Fiji back with vengeance in Wales Sevens rout

Defending champions Fiji showed they would tolerate no revenge attempt from Wales for last year's agonising Cup final defeat, routing them 42-7 on the first night of the Hong Kong Sevens Friday. Wales' Samuel Cross took an early try in the Pool A clash, but it was swiftly answered by Fiji's Samisoni Viriviri, who opened the floodgates. Five tries later, despite a gritty effort by Wales to keep the pressure up, Fiji had thrown down the gauntlet to Series leaders South Africa and New Zealand.

RugbyU: 'BlitzBokke' seek fifth straight final

South Africa will try to reach their fifth straight Sevens final and inch ahead of reigning series champions New Zealand when they defend their Tokyo title this weekend. With four tournaments left, including next week's Hong Kong Sevens, it could hardly be tighter at the top with New Zealand leading the Springbok Sevens or "BlitzBokke" by just two points. And South Africa coach Neil Powell promised his side would respond after a 21-0 hammering by New Zealand in last month's Wellington final.
