International Sports Desk, Dec 31 (EFE).- Spain's Rafael Nadal, the world No. 1, officially made his debut in the new tennis season on Tuesday, beating the Czech Republic's Lukas Rosol 6-2, 7-6 (9-7) at the Qatar ExxonMobil Open.
The match provided an opportunity for Nadal to get some payback against Rosol, who beat the Spanish star in the second round of Wimbledon in 2012 6-7 (9-11), 6-4, 6-4, 2-6, 6-4 in their only previous meeting.
The 27-year-old Nadal, who has won 13 Grand Slam titles, needed one hour and 43 minutes to beat Rosol in the first round at Doha.
