RugbyL: Chase earns Noble salute as Salford tame Tigers

Brian Noble said Rangi Chase was the star of the show on his comeback for Salford as the New Zealander earned the Red Devils their first win in four Super League games against his former club Castleford. Chase was back in action after suffering a calf injury on his Salford debut against Wakefield in the first match of the campaign. But the 27-year-old impressed Red Devils coach Noble after setting up two tries for Andrew Dixon and scoring a late drop-goal to seal a late 23-16 victory over the previously undefeated Tigers.

RugbyL: Soliola sparks Saints return to top

Sia Soliola's try proved the catalyst for St Helens' remarkable 24-16 comeback victory against Wakefield which saw the Saints move back to the top of Super League on Sunday. Josh Jones opened the scoring for the visitors in the 25th minute but three quickfire tries either side of half-time from Danny Kirmond, Reece Lyne and Paul McShane saw the Wildcats take charge at 16-4. However, ex-Sydney Roosters man Soliola crossed in the 49th minute and the Saints, who saw Leeds leapfrog them in the table on Friday, never looked back.

RugbyL: Eels fall just short of Manly upset

The Eels fell desperately short of a breakthrough away win against the Manly Sea Eagles in Australia's National Rugby League on Sunday, losing 18-22. The Eels led 18-16 with six minutes to go against Manly at Brookvale Oval before a last-minute try by Steve Matai robbed them of their first away win in 21 matches.
