Former rugby league star Steve Prescott has died aged 39 after a seven-year battle with cancer.
Prescott, who played for Super League teams St Helens, Hull FC and Wakefield, was diagnosed with pseudomyxoma peritonei, a rare form of stomach cancer, in 2006.
The full-back, who won the Challenge Cup with St Helens in 1996 and 1997, was given only months to live but fought the disease for seven years after an operation to remove a tumour.
He had retired from the sport due to injury in 2004 after spending a year out of the game with a broken kneecap.
