Norway hold off Germany for dramatic team win

By David Ljunggren ROSA KHUTOR, Russia (Reuters) - Norway scraped the narrowest of wins in a dramatic finish to the Olympic Nordic combined men's team event on Thursday, holding off Germany to grab the gold by 0.3 seconds. Coming into the stadium at the end of the 4 x 5 km cross-country relay race, Norway's Joergen Graabak was just ahead of Fabian Riessle.

International Sports Desk, Feb 20 (EFE).- Norway edged out Germany Thursday for the gold in the Nordic combined team large hill event at the Sochi Olympics, rallying from a big deficit thanks to a dominant performance in the cross-country skiing portion. Germany took a 7-second lead over Austria and a whopping 25-second lead over Norway after the ski-jumping at the RusSki Gorki Jumping Center. Fabian Rießle, Björn Kircheisen, Johannes Rydzek and Eric Frenzel all posted jumps of more than 125 meters (410 feet) to put Germany in a strong position.

"It is so hot here, I feel like it's the Summer Olympics," said Akito Watabe of Japan, who won silver in the normal hill event on Wednesday.
