Independent probe clears officers in deadly shooting of military veteran

Man charged after wielding knife outside Buckingham Palace

A man who was shocked by British police with a Taser stun gun as he waved large knives outside Buckingham Palace was charged on Monday with affray and possessing a bladed weapon in public. Talhat Rehman, 54, was due to appear at London's Westminster Magistrates' Court later on Monday, London's Metropolitan Police said in a statement. Rehman, from Harrow in north-west London, was seen ranting and pressing one of the knives to his chest outside the central London palace, just before noon on Sunday.

Police use stun gun on knife-wielding man outside Buckingham Palace

A man waving large knives outside Buckingham Palace in the presence of tourists was shocked with a Taser stun gun and arrested on Sunday, police said. Queen Elizabeth II and her husband Prince Philip were at one of their weekend retreats, in Sandringham eastern England, at the time of the incident that occurred just before 12:00 pm (1200 GMT). "A man was seen outside the (palace's) centre gate in possession of two knives," said a spokesman for the capital's Metropolitan Police force.
