Soccer-Mali bank on Keita to deliver first World Cup place

Coach Patrice Carteron said the influential 33-year-old had spurred Mali to finish third at the African Nations Cup and his presence would inspire the rest of the team as they chase a place in Brazil 2014.

The former Barcelona midfielder turned in yet another inspiring performance to lead his country to the semi-finals after edging hosts South Africa in a penalty shootout on Saturday.
