British music festivals in tune with older, cashed-up fans

Music festivals have become an integral part of summer for British music fans with Bon Jovi and Blondie at the Isle of Wight festival this weekend, Slipknot and Iron Maiden at metal-fest Download, and Iggy Pop at Yoko Ono's Meltdown in London.

Snowplow cop killer to be sent to mental hospital but can enter the community

TORONTO - A man found not criminally responsible for killing a Toronto police officer with a snowplow will be detained in a psychiatric hospital, though he will be allowed out into the community under supervision. The Ontario Review Board has accepted a joint submission from both the Crown and the lawyer for Richard Kachkar, 46, that he should be sent to the Ontario Shores Centre for Mental Health Sciences in Whitby, east of Toronto.

Football: Portsmouth out of administration

Former FA Cup winners Portsmouth finally came out of administration on Friday after being officially taken over by a supporters group. The Pompey Supporters Trust's purchase of the League One club was confirmed in a statement from administrators BDO that formally ends the Fratton Park side's 14-month spell in administration. Portsmouth, who beat Cardiff in the 2008 FA Cup final, were on Tuesday relegated to League Two, English football's fourth and lowest professional tier.

Rory Hamilton-Brown believes he should not have returned to the game so soon following the death of his team-mate and friend Tom Maynard, questioning the support structure at his former club after the tragedy. "There was no way I should have been on a cricket field but I wanted to try it and see what I can do."

Stones to headline Glastonbury

The Rolling Stones will play Britain's Glastonbury Festival, the world's largest greenfield music and performing arts spectacle, organisers revealed on Wednesday. The legendary group has not played the festival before, but speculation mounted that they could make an appearance after they revealed last year they were reuniting to play 50th anniversary shows. Frontman Mick Jagger later tweeted: "Can't wait to play Glastonbury. I have my wellies and my yurt!" Glastonbury organiser Emily Eavis called it "as big a coup as we ever thought would be possible.
