Gold-plated car shines at Geneva Motor Show

For lovers of luxury and bling-bling, German tuning specialist Carlsson is offering an eyeful at the Geneva Motor Show this week, displaying the world's first gold-covered car. Several thousand sheets of gold leaf were needed to cover the Versailles-inspired special edition Mercedes S-class presented at the show. Carlsson said it is only planning to produce 25 of the over-the-top luxury vehicles, each customised to fit the tastes of their buyers.

Mercedes-Benz November sales reach record on E-class demand

FRANKFURT (Reuters) - Daimler <DAIGn.DE> said global sales of its Mercedes-Benz auto brand rose to their highest-ever level in November, growing by 10.9 percent to 133,441 cars thanks to demand for its new E-Class model and a boost of sales in China and North America. In a statement on Thursday, Stuttgart-based Daimler said year-to-date Mercedes-Benz sales increased 10.7 percent to a record 1.32 million autos, powered by growth in all major regions including Europe.

Mercedes-Benz Oct sales rise 15.3 percent to reach new record

FRANKFURT (Reuters) - Daimler <DAIGn.DE> said October sales for its Mercedes-Benz premium auto brand reached a new record, growing volume by 15.3 percent to 126,421 cars thanks to high deliveries for its new E-Class model. In a statement on Wednesday, the company said sales increased in every region with growth driven primarily by the United States where deliveries jumped 25 percent and Turkey, where shipment of cars rose 63 percent.

Sales of luxury brand rise 15.9 per cent in September; new E- and S-Class help

FRANKFURT - Daimler AG's luxury brand Mercedes-Benz sold a record number of cars in September. The Stuttgart-based automaker said Friday it sold 142,994 vehicles during September, up 15.9 per cent on the same month a year before. It credited new versions of its E-Class and S-Class sedans, as well as increased sales of its smaller models such as the A-, B- and CLA-Class. Compacts increased sales as a group by 68.3 per cent in the first nine months of the year.

Mercedes-Benz sales jump 16 percent to all-time high in September: paper

FRANKFURT (Reuters) - Daimler's <DAIGn.DE> luxury brand Mercedes-Benz sold the most cars in one month in its history in September, German paper Bild reported on Thursday. The carmaker sold over 142,000 cars last month, a rise of 15.9 percent, driven by demand in China and the United States, the paper said in an advance copy of an article to be published on Thursday. Mercedes to open museum in Beijing in bid to boost Chinese sales

FRANKFURT (Reuters) - Mercedes-Benz plans to open a museum in Beijing to showcase the heritage of the brand, the luxury carmaker's latest bid to boost flagging sales in China where it is outsold two to one by Audi and BMW. The museum will be the first by a foreign luxury carmaker in China and follows a series of attempts by Daimler-owned Mercedes to boost its performance in the country, including appointing an executive focused on the market and agreeing to buy a stake in its local partner.

Mercedes-Benz sales up 8.3 percent in June to 131,609 cars

FRANKFURT (Reuters) - German carmaker Daimler <DAIGn.DE> said sales of its Mercedes-Benz luxury division rose 8.3 percent in June to 131,609 cars, the best-ever level recorded for that month, powered by demand from China and the United States.
