Rotavirus, which causes dehydration and severe diarrhoea, is globally responsible for some 453,000 deaths annually and is particularly threatening in Africa and Asia, where access to urgent healthcare is often out of reach.

India set to beat China as investment destination for Japanese firms

India might soon surge ahead of China as a preferred investment destination for Japanese companies, a top official of the Japan Bank for International Cooperation said Wednesday. "India has huge potential for attracting investment from Japanese companies," JBIC Chief Executive Officer Hiroshi Watanabe said in an interview with the Indian English daily The Times of India, stressing that India's demographic advantage and increasing buying power will "motivate more Japanese firms to set up units here."

India will receive normal monsoon rains this year, the government said on Friday, boosting prospects of a stronger performance this year by Asia's third-largest economy. The Indian Ministry of External Affairs (MEA) has given one month extension to Pakistani Hindus, who have refused to go back to their country due to terror incidents there. Reports Tuesday claimed that the Indian ministry gave one month extension to the Pakistani Hindus after their visas expired. As per report, hundreds of Pakistan Hindu families are currently living in shelter homes in India since November 2011 after their tourist visas expired.

India successfully tests Agni II medium-range, nuclear-capable missile

New Delhi, Apr 7 (EFE).- India on the weekend successfully tested the ground-to-ground Agni II ballistic missile, which has a range of more than 2,000 kilometers (1,240 miles) and can carry a nuclear warhead, authorities said. The test took place on Sunday at the installation that the Defence Research and Development Organisation, or DRDO, has on Wheeler Island, in eastern Odisha state and the frequent site for this type of testing. "The launch was successful. All objectives were achieved," a top DRDO official, MVKV Prasad, told the local PTI news agency.

French retailer Auchan, one of the world's biggest hypermarket chains, aims to set up 60 stores in India to tap the emerging market nation's growing retail potential, an Indian minister said.
