Instagram debuts private photo and video messaging

Los Angeles, Dec 13 (EFE).- Instagram, owned by Facebook, rolled out a new service that allows users to privately exchange texts, photo and videos. With the introduction of Instagram Direct, the company is following in the footsteps of rivals such as Snapchat that already offer targeted sharing. Until now, Instagram users have not been able to selectively control access to the photos and videos they post.

The new Instagram Direct feature allows users to send a photo or video to a single person or up to 15 people, and have a real-time text conversations.

Facebook adds video to photo-sharing app Instagram

NEW YORK, N.Y. - Facebook is adding video to its popular photo-sharing app Instagram, following in the heels of Twitter's growing video-sharing app, Vine. Instagram co-founder Kevin Systrom said Thursday that users will be able to record and share 15-second clips by tapping a video icon in the app. They can also apply filters to videos to add contrast, make them black and white or different hues. "This is the same Instagram we all know and love but it moves," he said at an event held at Facebook's Menlo Park, Calif., headquarters.

Instagram website frames users' pictures

Facebook-owned Instagram on Tuesday began letting a freshly launched website serve as a gallery for images taken by users of the smartphone photo-sharing service. "Instagram, at its core, is about seeing and taking photos on-the-go," company co-founder Kevin Systrom said in a blog post. "You can now browse your Instagram feed on the Web, just like you do on your mobile device."
