New York, Mar 23 (EFE).- Legendary salsa singer Celia Cruz has been honored with a place on the Walk of Legends at New York's Apollo Theater. The late Cuban-born singer was honored on Saturday night, marking the 50th anniversary of her first appearance on the stage of the iconic New York theater. Cuban singer Lucrecia and Dominican salsa musician Jose Alberto, known as "El canario," performed some of Cruz's most famous songs. The concert was part of a series commemorating the 80th anniversary of the legendary Harlem theater.

Emilio Estefan becomes the face of Botran rum

Miami, Feb 2 (EFE).- Music producer Emilio Estefan told Efe that he agreed to be the face of Botran rum in the United States because the deal will benefit the South Florida economy and send a message of unity in the Hispanic community. The deal was attractive because Botran rum is produced by a Guatemalan "family that has tradition and has proven that it makes the best rums in the world," the 60-year-old musician and businessman said. Ads for the rum will feature Estefan's face, and the music entrepreneur said he felt the move was the right one to make.

"It's a privilege. The couple is working with the Nederlander Organization on the show that will trace their lives from leaving Cuba to international stardom.
