Emilio Estefan becomes the face of Botran rum

Miami, Feb 2 (EFE).- Music producer Emilio Estefan told Efe that he agreed to be the face of Botran rum in the United States because the deal will benefit the South Florida economy and send a message of unity in the Hispanic community. The deal was attractive because Botran rum is produced by a Guatemalan "family that has tradition and has proven that it makes the best rums in the world," the 60-year-old musician and businessman said. Ads for the rum will feature Estefan's face, and the music entrepreneur said he felt the move was the right one to make.

Miami, Nov 29 (EFE).- Singer Gloria Estefan and her husband, producer Emilio Estefan, once again offered a beneficent Thanksgiving dinner at their Bongos Cuban Cafe that was attended by about 1,000 mostly homeless people. "It's a privilege. It makes me very happy because we know we're sharing with families who would otherwise have no chance to celebrate or have such a beautiful day," Gloria Estafan said Thursday upon her arrival at the celebrity couple's Miami restaurant.

Miami, May 1 (EFE).- Gloria Estefan's "The Standards," a celebration of the American Songbook, will go on sale Sept. 10, Sony Masterworks said. Reflecting the international nature of her audience, the disc features songs sung in English, Spanish, Italian, Portuguese and French. Estefan, who contributed to Frank Sinatra's 1993 "Duets" album and, more recently, to Tony Bennett's "Viva Duets," sought out singer-songwriter Laura Pausini, violinist Joshua Bell and saxophonist Dave Koz to collaborate on the project.
