RHP Jake Odorizzi made his first start for the Rays after being called up from Triple-A Durham and did not factor in the decision in Monday's 7-5 loss at Toronto. The 23-year-old made two starts with the Kansas City Royals last year. He was acquired with three other prospects -- OF Wil Myers, LHP Mike Montgomery and 3B Patrick Leonard -- in exchange for RHP James Shields, RHP Wade Davis and INF Elliot Johnson. In Monday's outing he allowed three runs, two in the first innings, one walk and five hits over five innings while striking out six.

Overbay had four hits, including three extra-base hits, and drove in five runs as the New York Yankees pounded the Kansas City Royals 11-6 at Kauffman Stadium.

LF Lucas Duda broke an 11-game homerless streak with his solo shot Friday. Five of Duda's six home runs have come with the bases empty. OF Collin Cowgill was optioned to the Triple-A Las Vegas 51s. Cowgill, who opened the sdeaosn as the starting center fielder, batted just .157 with two home runs and eight RBIs in 51 at-bats.
