R&B singer Chris Brown's assault trial delayed by bodyguard case

By Tom Ramstack WASHINGTON (Reuters) - R&B singer Chris Brown's trial for allegedly assaulting a fan outside a hotel in Washington, D.C., was delayed again on Wednesday after his defense said more time was needed to arrange for the testimony of his bodyguard. Brown, 24, is accused of punching a man who was trying to take his photo near the White House in October. Christopher Hollosy, the singer's 35-year-old bodyguard, was convicted on Monday of misdemeanor assault for hitting the man during the altercation.

Trial postponed, Chris Brown heads back to LA

A US judge postponed Chris Brown's assault trial Wednesday, saying the R&B singer should not be held in legal limbo and must return to California for a probationary hearing. After his trial on misdemeanor charges was twice postponed, Brown is now due back in Washington for a status hearing on June 25. Brown, 24, and his bodyguard Chris Hollosy, 35, were accused of punching a man last October outside a trendy Washington hotel after the singer rejected the man's request for a photo. If convicted, Brown faces up to six months in jail in Washington.

SACRAMENTO, Calif. - Federal law enforcement authorities on Friday announced multiple charges of bribery and coverups against a Democratic state lawmaker and his brother, the result of a long-running corruption investigation that has tarnished the state's majority party. The 24-count indictment was filed Thursday in federal court in Los Angeles against state Sen. Ron Calderon and his brother, Tom, a former state lawmaker who now works as a lobbyist and was in charge of political accounts cited in the document.

US singer Chris Brown's hit-and-run case dismissed

US rapper Chris Brown, who made headlines in 2009 for his assault on then girlfriend Rihanna, was cleared Thursday in a hit-and-run case. A Los Angeles judge closed the case after the the 24-year-old and the other driver struck a deal. By his own admission, Brown had rear-ended a Mercedes with his Range Rover on May 21 near Toluca Lake north of Los Angeles. But he said he exchanged all necessary details with the driver of the Mercedes and denied leaving the scene.

Brown is scheduled to appear at a hearing on Wednesday in Los Angeles, at which time a judge could decide to revoke the "Don't Wake Me Up" singer's probation.
