Japan's land minister voiced his intention Tuesday to encourage foreign tourists to visit Mt. Fuji, which was inscribed on UNESCO's World Heritage List last weekend.
"It will have a great impact and I would like to encourage foreign tourists to visit Mt. Fuji," Akihiro Ota, who heads the Ministry of Land, Infrastructure, Transport and Tourism, said at a press conference.
Ota hinted at the use of diplomatic missions abroad, magazines and other media to promote the 3,776-meter mountain west of Tokyo.
