Iranian human rights activist, Nobel Peace Prize winner Shirin Ebadi will visit Baku to attend the South Caucus Forum on May 6-8, press service of the State Committee on Work with Diaspora told APA. CBA supports involvement of influential foreign banks in country

Vahab Rzayev; Central Bank of Azerbaijan supports involvement of influential foreign banks in the country, said the CBA Chairman Elman Rustamov. According to him, CBA wants foreign banks to have ratings and influents. In general, involvement of foreign banks is conditioned with the positive factors such as bringing of modern technologies and strengthening of competitiveness in banking sector. Rustamov also stated that if there are any bids on accessing of foreign banks, including Turkish banks to Azerbaijan’s market, the CBA is ready to consider these bids.

Unibank launches branch in Mardakan

Three killed in Azerbaijan military helicopter crash

An Azerbaijani military helicopter crashed on Monday near the capital Baku killing all three crew members, the ex-Soviet country's defence ministry said. "A helicopter of Azerbaijan's Air Force crashed on Monday at 10:30 local time (0630 GMT) near Baku," the ministry said in a statement. A source in the ministry told AFP that all three crew members of the Mi-17 helicopter have died. The helicopter debris and one body have been found, he said. There were no further details on the identities of the dead.

The 67-year-old Irishman, who is on the International Olympic Committee (IOC) elite Executive Board, saw his dream realised last year when the Games were voted into being by 85 percent of the EOC members.
