Football: Injury a real kick in the teeth for Bastia's Khazri

Tunisian international midfielder Wahbi Khazri, of Ligue 1 club SC Bastia, faces a spell on the sidelines after picking up a nasty facial injury in training, it was confirmed on Friday. Khazri suffered four broken teeth and needed stitches in his lips after being kicked in the mouth by one his teammates during training with the Corsican club on Thursday, Bastia said. They said that dental surgery had been a success but Khazri will be out for around 10 days before being able to start training again, ruling him out of his team's next two Ligue 1 matches.

European Games a stepping stone for Azeri Olympic bid

The capital Baku stumbled twice in the first stage of its attempt to land the 2016 and the 2020 Olympic Games, but sports minister Azad Rahimov said the experience from the first continental Games next year will prove invaluable as the country prepares another run on the Olympics.

Vahab Rzayev; Central Bank of Azerbaijan supports involvement of influential foreign banks in the country, said the CBA Chairman Elman Rustamov.According to him, CBA wants foreign banks to have ratings and influents. In general, involvement of foreign banks is conditioned with the positive factors such as bringing of modern technologies and strengthening of competitiveness in banking sector.Rustamov also stated that if there are any bids on accessing of foreign banks, including Turkish banks to Azerbaijan’s market, the CBA is ready to consider these bids.

Unibank launches branch in Mardakan

Three killed in Azerbaijan military helicopter crash

An Azerbaijani military helicopter crashed on Monday near the capital Baku killing all three crew members, the ex-Soviet country's defence ministry said. "A helicopter of Azerbaijan's Air Force crashed on Monday at 10:30 local time (0630 GMT) near Baku," the ministry said in a statement. A source in the ministry told AFP that all three crew members of the Mi-17 helicopter have died. The helicopter debris and one body have been found, he said. There were no further details on the identities of the dead.

Sports: Inaugural European Games will be innovative - Hickey

The inaugural European Games being hosted by Baku in 2015 will be about being different and innovative, the president of the European Olympic Committees (EOC) Pat Hickey told AFP in an interview. The 67-year-old Irishman, who is on the International Olympic Committee (IOC) elite Executive Board, saw his dream realised last year when the Games were voted into being by 85 percent of the EOC members.
