A Californian mountain resort ordered its schools on lockdown Thursday after reports that a car resembling that of an alleged fugitive cop killer was found burning in nearby woods, officials said.
Police were dispatched to the scene after the pick-up truck was found near the town of Big Bear, in the mountains about two hours east of Los Angeles, the LA Times reported.
"Based on investigations in our valley, and as a precautionary measure we have called a district-wide lock down of all our facilities," said a statement by the Bear Valley Unified School District.
