Million dollar reward for alleged cop killer: LA mayor

Los Angeles Mayor Antonio Villaraigosa on Sunday announced a $1 million reward for information leading to the capture of a fugitive ex-cop suspected of three murders. "We will not tolerate anyone undermining the security, the tranquility of our neighborhoods and our communities," Villaraigosa said at a news conference announcing the reward. "We will not tolerate this reign of terror that has robbed us of the peace of mind that residents of southern California deserve. We will not tolerate this murderer remaining at large," he said.

US resort in school lockdown after cop killer report

A Californian mountain resort ordered its schools on lockdown Thursday after reports that a car resembling that of an alleged fugitive cop killer was found burning in nearby woods, officials said. Police were dispatched to the scene after the pick-up truck was found near the town of Big Bear, in the mountains about two hours east of Los Angeles, the LA Times reported. "Based on investigations in our valley, and as a precautionary measure we have called a district-wide lock down of all our facilities," said a statement by the Bear Valley Unified School District.
