RugbyU: Clermont round off league campaign with new record

European Cup finalists Clermont established a new French record of 60 successive home wins in all competitions on Saturday as they ended their Top 14 regular season with a 67-3 thrashing of Bordeaux-Begles. Clermont, who play fellow French side and title rivals Toulon in the European Cup final in Dublin on May 18, beat the mark they shared with Stade Francais of 59 which the Parisian club established between September 2004 and March 2008. Clermont's last home loss dates back to November 21, 2009, with a 16-13 reverse by Biarritz.

RugbyU: Strike off as Agen travel to Toulon

Agen players called off their pay strike on Friday and agreed to travel to Toulon for their final Top 14 match of the season, AFP's reporter on the ground said. The relegated club's players had refused to train on Thursday and apparently threatened not to play against Toulon on Saturday in protest at unpaid salaries. However, a compromise was reached following a meeting on Friday morning between players, their union and the club's president Alain Tingaud. cor-rap/sva/bc/ps

RugbyU: Play-off picture set to be cleared up

Both may have already secured a Top 14 play-off berth but home advantage will be at stake when Racing-Metro host Castres at the Stade Colombes on Saturday. Parisians Racing currently sit fifth in the Top 14 table, one place below Castres, knowing they must leapfrog their weekend visitors in order to gain the benefit of playing at home when the play-offs begin a week later.

Precise Porical kicks Stade Francais into Amlin Cup final

PARIS (Reuters) - A late Jerome Porical penalty gave Stade Francais a 25-22 win at Perpignan on Friday and a place in the final of the Amlin Challenge Cup. Porical, who kicked 20 points in all, watched with delight when his 78th-minute penalty fell the right side of the posts after twice hitting the woodwork. The Perpignan-born fullback had pulled his side level four minutes earlier by kicking a long-range penalty from 60 metres.
