SS Starlin Castro went 0-for-4 Sunday and is now batting .243. The slumping shortstop was demoted from leadoff spot to No. 7 in the order last week. He remains the Cubs' iron man with 255 consecutive games played, the longest active streak in the National League. RHP Kyuji Fujikawa (ruptured ulnar collateral ligament) went on the 15-day disabled list May 27 and was transferred to the 60-day DL on May 30. He was scheduled to see Dr. James Andrews June 10 and have Tommy John surgery on his right elbow June 11. He is out until sometime next season.

SS Starlin Castro missed a chance for a hit in 10 career games at U.S. Cellular Field with Tuesday's postponement. He has a .457 (16-for-35) average with two home runs and six RBI in nine games on Chicago's South Side.

RHP Kyuji Fujikawa is scheduled to return to the active roster this weekend in Washington after making a pair of minor league rehab appearances. Fujikawa reported no problems Wednesday after pitching at Double-A Tennessee. He has been on the DL since mid-April with a right-forearm strain.

Baseball: Cubs welcome Japanese pitcher Fujikawa

Former Hanshin Tigers closing relief ace Kyuji Fujikawa will officially join his new Chicago Cubs teammates on Sunday when the Major League Baseball club's pitchers and catchers report for pre-season camp. Fujikawa has spent the past week in Arizona ahead of Tuesday's start of workouts with the team after signing a two-year deal with the Cubs in December. His family has remained in Japan while he adjusts to America.
