Biathlon: Fourcade retains World Cup title

France's Martin Fourcade retained his overall World Cup title on Thursday when he triumphed in the latest individual round held at Sochi, the venue of the 2014 Olympics. The 24-year-old moved to 1,072 points, a lead of 321 over his closest rival, Norway's Emil Hegle Svendsen, who was forced to miss Thursday's event due to flu. Fourcade won the season-opener in Ostersund in Sweden at the end of November and becomes the first man to carry the championship lead from the start to the end of the campaign. gf/dj/as
