At least two people were killed in hail storms that lashed Paraguay over the weekend, authorities said Monday.
The victims included an 86-year-old woman who was crushed when the roof of her home collapsed, the government said.
A 37-year-old man was electrocuted while trying to lift a downed power line, it said.
The storms Saturday and Sunday hit a heavily populated region in central Paraguay that includes the capital, Asuncion.
Emergency responders estimated that roofs on 5,000 dwellings were destroyed by hail, affecting some 30,000 people.
