Statoil says exploration drilling to begin off Newfoundland in summer

ST. JOHN'S, N.L. - Norwegian energy firm Statoil says it will begin exploration drilling off Newfoundland later this year in an effort to determine whether to develop an offshore oilfield believed to hold up to 600 million barrels of recoverable crude. The company said Friday that the drilling will likely take place between July and September and span 18 months in the Flemish Pass Basin.

(Reuters) - Heavy flooding in northeastern Colorado has roiled oil and gas operations over the past week, according to producers and energy companies. The most severely impacted energy region is known as the Denver-Julesburg basin in the Niobrara Shale. The basin is centered in eastern Colorado and stretches into southeast Wyoming, western Nebraska and western Kansas. It underlies the Denver metropolitan area on the eastern side of the Rocky Mountains.

Minnow Europa gets 'big oil' interest in Ireland partnership

By Sarah Young LONDON, Feb 18 (Reuters) - British minnow Europa Oil & Gas , which snapped up two areas off Ireland's coast before big companies came to see the region as a new bright spot for exploration, said it has received partnership interest from oil majors. Europa, capitalised at just 14 million pounds ($22 million), began the process needed to find a partner at the end of January to gain help in funding the hunt for oil and gas on the two positions it picked up in 2011 off the southwest coast.
