RugbyU: Kahui to miss France Tests, Japan stint in doubt

An injured shoulder means All Blacks centre Richard Kahui will miss next month's Test series against France and his hopes of playing club rugby in Japan are in doubt, reports said Tuesday. Kahui, who is due to take up a two-year contract with Japanese side Toshiba Brave Lupus in August, hurt his shoulder in training last week, the latest setback in a career plagued by injury. Dave Rennie, the 27-year-old's coach at Super 15 club the Waikato Chiefs, told Fairfax Media that Kahui needed surgery on the shoulder and was facing four to six months on the sidelines.

RugbyU: All Black Kahui injures shoulder again

Injury-plagued All Blacks centre Richard Kahui's season with Super 15 champions the Waikato Chiefs is in doubt after he hurt his shoulder in training, it was reported Wednesday. Kahui, who missed the Chiefs' win over the Coastal Sharks last Saturday with a hamstring strain, injured his shoulder during tackling practice on Sunday, the Waikato Times said. Chiefs coach Dave Rennie told the newspaper that Kahui would undergo a scan next week, saying signs were "not very good" for the 27-year-old, who has signed to play with Japanese club side Toshiba Brave Lupus next year.

RugbyU: All Black Thomson signs on for Japanese stint

Forward Adam Thomson has become the latest All Black to sign a lucrative contract to play club rugby in Japan, joining the Canon Eagles on a two-year deal. Thomson played for the Otago Highlanders Super 15 team last season and was selected in the All Blacks end-of-year tour of Europe but did not renew his contract with the New Zealand Rugby Union (NZRU). The 31-year-old will not be eligible for the All Blacks while playing in Japan and the move is likely to bring his 29-Test international career to an end.

Rugby-Hansen frustrated, disappointed at Kahui's departure

Feb 19 (Reuters) - New Zealand rugby coach Steve Hansen was left frustrated and disappointed at Richard Kahui's decision to switch to the Japanese league, and his mood will not improve amid reports prized asset Dan Carter could join the All Black exodus. Kahui has suffered a series of shoulder problems and the 27-year-old centre and wing said last week's decision to sign a lucrative two-year contract with Toshiba Brave Lupus in the less intense Japanese Top League was made with his injury record in mind.

RugbyU: All Black Kahui to play in Japan

World Cup-winning All Black Richard Kahui has announced he will play in Japan at the end of the Super 15 season after signing a two-year deal with Top League club Toshiba Brave Lupus. The midfielder was a key member of New Zealand's World Cup-winning team in 2011 and helped the Waikato Chiefs to the Super 15 title last year, although his career has been blighted by injury.
