"Dreddy" hails his greatest win at a grand slam

By Paul Majendie LONDON (Reuters) - Dreadlocked Wimbledon qualifier Dustin Brown has no coach and used to travel to tournaments in a camper van but on Wednesday he enjoyed his greatest success at a grand slam by knocking out former champion Lleyton Hewitt. "Did that just happen?" he asked after a fairytale second-round victory that reduced him to tears. "I cried like a little girl," he confessed after beating the veteran Australian he used to watch on television when he was a child.

Tennis: Haas crashes out in Houston

Second seed Tommy Haas crashed out of the US Clay Court Championships in Houston on Thursday, suffering a straight sets defeat to Ricardas Berankis of Lithuania. The German veteran -- who had inflicted a shock defeat on world number one Novak Djokovic at the Miami Masters last month -- was sent tumbling out 6-3 6-3 at the River Oaks Country Club. It was just the second time this year the 35-year-old Haas lost his opening match.

Almagro advances in Houston, Haas falls

(Reuters) - Top seed Nicolas Almagro fought back to beat Frenchman Gael Monfils 2-6 6-0 6-3 in Thursday's second round at the U.S. Men's Clay Court Championship in Houston. Almagro grabbed the decisive break in the eighth game of the deciding set and the Spaniard will fancy his chances of securing a 13th clay-court title of his career in his first appearance at the Houston tournament. Fifth seed John Isner defeated 20-year-old fellow American wild card Jack Sock 7-5 6-7 7-6 in a match which featured just just one break of serve.

Tennis: Haas advances, Querrey falls at Delray Beach

Top seed John Isner fired 15 aces in a 7-6 (7/2), 6-2 victory over Japan's Go Soeda on Thursday to reach the quarter-finals of the ATP Delray Beach International Championships. The American player broke Soeda twice in the 75-minute match to book a meeting with defending champion Kevin Anderson of South Africa. Anderson, seeded sixth, continued his comeback from elbow surgery with a 6-4, 3-6, 6-3 victory over Taiwan's Lu Yen-Hsun. German second seed Tommy Haas also advanced to the quarters of the $455,775 tournament, but US third seed Sam Querrey was eliminated.
