Three Palestinians killed in clashes with Israeli army

Three Palestinians were killed in the Jenin refugee camp in the West Bank early Saturday in clashes with Israeli soldiers trying to arrest a militant, Palestinian officials said. Israeli forces kill 2nd Palestinian in West Bank

Israeli border police shot dead a Palestinian at a checkpoint near Jerusalem, Israeli police and family members said Friday, in the second fatal shooting by Israeli forces in 12 hours. Police spokesman Micky Rosenfeld said the incident occurred around midnight (2200 GMT), when a man ran at a border police officer with a knife, prompting him to open fire. "A Palestinian who arrived at the area ran out of a vehicle toward border police who were there on patrol," Rosenfeld said.

An Israeli man was killed and a woman injured in an apparent militant attack by Palestinians on their West Bank home, police said early Friday. It was the third violent death of an Israeli in the occupied territory in less than three weeks. "They were beaten with blunt instruments," at Brosh, in the northern Jordan valley, police spokesman Micky Rosenfeld told AFP, adding that the assumption was "definitely" of a militant attack. The army said that roadblocks had been set up in the area of the attack and security forces were searching for the perpetrators.

Israel holds Palestinian for killing soldier in West Bank

JERUSALEM (Reuters) - An Israeli soldier has been killed by a Palestinian who lured him to a village in the West Bank and wanted to trade the soldier's body for the release of his imprisoned brother, Israeli security officials said on Saturday. The soldier, who went missing on Friday, drove together with the man, who had previously worked with him in an Israeli restaurant, to a village near the West Bank town of Qalqilya, Israel's military said in a statement.

Palestinian shot in clash with Israeli soldiers dies

RAMALLAH, West Bank (Reuters) - A Palestinian shot by Israeli soldiers in clashes in the occupied West Bank this month died of his wounds on Saturday, hospital officials said. Kareem Abu Sbaih, 19, was shot on August 20 by Israeli soldiers making an arrest in the Jenin refugee camp. A second Palestinian was killed during the clashes and another wounded. The Palestinians, who maintain security coordination with Israel in parts of the West Bank, have criticized such raids as unilateral in territory that is under their control.
