Cho Yong-pil chosen as best singer of 2013

SEOUL, Dec. 19 (Yonhap) -- K-pop legend Cho Yong-pil was selected as South Korea's best singer of 2013, beating out global star Psy in an annual poll released on Thursday. Cho received the most votes at 17.6 percent in a survey conducted by Gallup Korea on 4,263 people aged 13 or older across the country for three times from July through November. Voters could choose up to three favorite singers among those who were active this year.

SEOUL, May 22 (Yonhap) -- The death of a young woman is under investigation after her body was discovered inside a car owned by a pop singer, police said Wednesday. The body was discovered around 3:00 p.m. Tuesday inside the vehicle parked near an apartment building in Gangnam-gu in southern Seoul, according to the Gangnam Police Station. The car is owned by pop singer Son Ho-young, the police said, adding that an empty bottle of sleeping pills and a used briquette were found along with a suicide note.

Nigerian singer, reality star Goldie Harvey dies

Nigerian singer and reality star Goldie Harvey, who appeared on Big Brother Africa in 2012 and gained fame in various African nations, has died at the age of 31, her record label said Friday. Kennis Music said the singer, known as Goldie, died on Thursday after arriving back in Lagos from the United States, where she had gone "to witness the Grammy Awards." "With a deep sense of loss, we announce the shocking death of our darling music star, Goldie Harvey," it said.
