Millwall set up Wigan Cup semi with Blackburn win

(Reuters) - Danny Shittu's powerful first-half header helped Millwall beat fellow second-tier club Blackburn Rovers 1-0 in an FA Cup quarter-final replay on Wednesday to set up a last-four clash at Wembley with Premier League Wigan Athletic. Captain Shittu, who opted to miss Nigeria's African Nations Cup triumph last month so he could stay with Millwall, headed in a corner after 42 minutes to put the 2004 FA Cup finalists in front.

Football: Millwall into FA Cup quarter-finals

Championship side Millwall became the first team to reach this season's quarter-finals of the FA Cup after a 3-0 win away to non-league Luton Town on Saturday. Goals from James Henry, Rob Hulse and Dany N'Guessan saw the second-tier south London club into the last eight for the first time since they went all the way to the 2004 FA Cup final only to lose Manchester United. As soon as the fifth round draw was made, memories were revived of an infamous match between the two clubs in 1985 when rampaging Millwall fans wrecked Luton's Kenilworth Road ground.
