Cypriot President Nicos Anastasiades made two changes to his cabinet after Finance Minister Michalis Sarris resigned on Tuesday. Sarris' portfolio will be taken up on Wednesday by Labour and Social Insurance Minister Haris Georgiades, who will be replaced by Zeta Emilianidou, permanent secretary at the commerce ministry. Cyprus launches probe into causes of financial ruin

Cyprus authorities on Tuesday launched a judicial probe into how the island was pushed to the verge of bankruptcy before having to agree a crippling eurozone bailout. Cypriot president Nicos Anastastiades called on the three-judge commission -- George Pikkis, Panayiotis Kallis and Yiannakis Constantinides -- to investigate himself and his family members as a "matter of priority" and with "extra vigour".

The party of Cyprus President Nicos Anastasiades will abstain from taking part in a parliamentary vote on an EU bailout due to be held on Tuesday, a party member said. The Disy party had unanimously decided not to take part in the vote because "it will strengthen the bargaining position of the Republic of Cyprus," Nicos Tornaritis told Sigma television. Early results show Cypriot conservative chief with strong lead

NICOSIA, Feb 24 (Reuters) - Cypriot conservative leader Nicos Anastasiades took a commanding lead in Sunday's presidential runoff with a 56.8 percent share of the vote after 10 percent of votes were counted, interior ministry data showed. Leftist rival Stavros Malas, who is backed by the Communist party AKEL, trailed with a 43.3 share of the vote.
